FAQ about our First house

1. What is the house plan, the most asked question and I get this DAILY!

A: The cove cottage house plan from southern living! We absolutely LOVED it!

2. What changes did you make to the plan?

A: We combined the laundry and pantry to make a bigger mud room! We also took the bathtub out of the downstairs guest bath and added that space to the laundry. We rearranged a little upstairs because the bonus room was my photography studio and I had the bathroom a little closer to it for my clients. If it wasn't for that I would have kept it original to the plan!

3. What were your ceiling/ window/ and door heights?

A: Ceilings were 10 feet downstairs, 9 feet upstairs! The doors were 8 feet downstairs and 7 feet upstairs (6'8''). The windows were 7 feet! ! foot from the floor and 2 feet from the ceiling! We had vinyl windows!

5. Were your vanities custom?

A: Yes! Jacob's custom woodworks (our cabinet guy) in Denham Springs, LA made them and they were made from maple! I drew them up and he made them exactly how I drew them!

6. Where is your range hood from?

A: I had it custom made as well! From our cabinet guy! I drew it up and he made it! He used maple wood as well for this!

7. Which brick did you use?

A: Annandale Queen Brick from McConnell brick in Baton Rouge!

8. What kind of siding did you use?

A: Hardy plank with the grain!

9. What kind of flooring did you use?

A: Waterproof laminate Saddle Creek by Atrogaurd. We loved them! They had character in the grain pattern that you could feel!

10. What color shingle did you use?

A: I honestly can't remember and I don't have it written down! We used a local building supply company and I remember the brand was Tamko, but there were 4 options there to choose from on display and I just chose the medium grey! There was a super light grey, the medium grey, a super dark grey and a black!
