All about our antique doors

Literally my most asked question about our new build; the antique wood doors. I am pretty proud of this Facebook Marketplace score.

So rewind to a few months prior, I saw this beautiful wood carved door that someone was selling on Facebook Marketplace from an old house in New Orleans. I was wanting a stained wood front door, but this one was white. I was either going to end up sanding and stripping it, or just leave it. It was sooo beautiful, buuuut, it was $2300. WAY out of my facebook marketplace budget. I looked at it for months and never even messaged the lady about it. Just saved it and kept going back to it.

When we were getting quotes from all the different contractors, doors, windows, etc. , the quote for the front door was over $4000.... I was like what the heck! I can find a pretty antique door for that price that has so much character for less than that.

So if you know me at all, you know I LIVE on Facebook Marketplace. I am on it multiple times a day just looking for anything and everything that we might need. One morning I was on Facebook Marketplace and my husband was at work. I wasn't even looking for anything in particular when I saw this post:

Y'all, it was literally the SAME exact door as the white one I had fallen in love with. Like, exact! And the best part was that there were FIVE of them! The guy was selling them for $1000 for all of them! I messaged him immediately and asked if I venmoed him if he would hold them for me until my husband got off of work to go get them. He said he can't hold them because multiple people were making plans to come pick them up right then.

So I sent the photos to Andrew and he loved them and I told him about the situation. The doors were over an hour away and we hopped in the car and rushed there to go get them.

We ended up getting all 5 for $900 total! Total score!

We ended up using 2 of them for the exterior front door, and the exterior side door. Andrew has been working so hard every weekend sanding, sand blasting, and intricately sanding out the carved parts of the doors for the new house. I am SO thankful for him and all of his hard work. It really has been a family effort to get these doors finished in time to install. Andrew has been going to his Uncle Billy's house every weekend and so many family members have taken turns helping with the doors. So much hard work and love have gone into these doors which means so much to me!

Currently, Andrew is replacing some of the trim on the doors to make sure they are all patched up and looking good before install!

Here are the exterior doors installed, not stained yet!

The other three doors are going in our mudroom pantry (that goes into our kitchen), my photography studio, and our master closet! I cannot wait to see all of the character throughout the new house!!
